The Refugio House

Two luxurious suites and an entertainers-dream kitchen

Refugio is a contemporary Spanish-style guesthouse, a peaceful retreat, and a place to wind down at magic hour. Refugio boasts two state-of-the-art suites, each with private deck and fire-pit (and mini-bar). Indulge your inner chef in the fully-equipped teaching/catering kitchen and expansive patio overlooking two and a half acres of pasture, with two 300-year-old oak trees.

Sheets are Italian, wi-fi is strong, and bathrooms boast heated tile floors, comfy bathrobes and lush towels, locally-sourced bath products, and high-end fixtures.

You will not find any televisions here. Instead, the Oak Suite has a huge oval bathtub and wood-burning fireplace; the Barn Suite a spacious, double-headed shower, large and sheltered deck, and a wall paneled with old barn wood.

We have been long-time vacation home renters, and always looked for homes with two equal suites, so we created the ultimate two-suite home, and threw in total luxury and complete privacy for each suite. A complimentary bottle of Paso Robles wine awaits you at this ‘Bed and Bottle’ in Wine Country.

Extras

Private Catering Available:
Subject to availability, a private chef may be available to cater dinner for one to ten in the Refugio kitchen/studio, if desired using recipes from Refugio owner Brigit Binns’ book, “The New Wine Country Cookbook: Recipes from California’s Central Coast,” or any of Brigit’s other 25+ published cookbooks on subjects ranging from steak to polenta to the West Coast’s best road food, and more. The menu will be tailored to your taste, the size of your group, and the wine(s) you plan to drink with the meal. Prices begin at $250, plus the cost of ingredients.

Farmer’s Market Boxes and Bespoke Cheese/Charcuterie Boards:
Contact Alanna at Templeton Valley Farms to arrange a box of fresh and local/seasonal vegetables, fruits, and eggs. If you are unable to pick up your box due to the farm’s schedule, we will be happy to retrieve it for you. For a spectacular cheese, fruit, and charcuterie board, contact Danika at Vivant Fine Cheese, right in downtown Paso Robles. Just be sure to let them know you are staying at Refugio. Delivery can take place prior to your arrival or during your stay, or if that’s not possible, we will endeavor to pick it up for you. If your box/board comes to our house instead of “yours,” one of us will bring it down to Refugio.
